Job Summary: Perform computed tomography (CT) scans on patients using specialized imaging equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Interact directly with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging studies and high-quality patient care. Job Responsibilities: --30% Patient Care, Preparation, and Education: -Greet and assist patients, explaining the CT scanning procedure and addressing any concerns or questions they may have. -Verify patient identity, medical history, and physician orders to ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed. -Position patients comfortably on the CT scanner table, immobilizing body parts as necessary to obtain clear images and minimizing motion artifacts. -Provide education and instruction to patients regarding CT scanning procedures, preparation requirements, and safety precautions. --35% CT Scanning, Image Acquisition, Image Processing, and Analysis: -Operate CT scanner equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images of the body according to established protocols and physician instructions. -Adjust scanning parameters such as slice thickness, exposure settings, and contrast administration as needed to optimize image quality and diagnostic information. -Monitor patients during scanning procedures, observing for any adverse reactions or complications and taking appropriate action as necessary. -Review CT images for quality, ensuring proper positioning, contrast enhancement, and absence of artifacts that may affect diagnostic interpretation. -Perform basic image processing techniques such as windowing, reconstruction, and multiplanar reformatting to enhance visualization of anatomical structures and abnormalities. -Assist radiologists and physicians in image interpretation, providing technical support and documentation of relevant findings. --10% Staff Education: -Offer guidance and support to colleagues, including radiologic technologists, nurses, and ancillary staff, regarding CT imaging techniques, patient positioning, and radiation safety practices. -Participate in the orientation of new staff members. -Participate in the education of students of the Radiologic Technology Program. --15% Safety and Compliance: -Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation. -Maintain knowledge of safety procedures, equipment operation, and emergency protocols to respond effectively to any incidents or equipment malfunctions. -Ensure proper documentation of CT scanning procedures, patient assessments, contrast administration, and any adverse events or complications. --10% Equipment Maintenance and Quality Assurance: -Perform daily equipment checks and quality control tests to verify proper functioning of the CT scanner and associated peripherals. -Collaborate with biomedical engineers and service technicians to address any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly. -Participate in quality assurance activities, including image quality assessments, protocol optimization, and performance improvement initiatives. null Schedule - Friday, 3:30p - 12:00a Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -No Experience required. -Strong knowledge of CT imaging principles, techniques, and equipment operation. -Proficiency in computerized tomography (CT) scanning protocols, image acquisition, and post-processing techniques. -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. -Commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and quality improvement. -Accepts responsibility for words, actions, attitude, and results while meeting deadlines and performance expectations. -Practices effective, clear, and respectful communications (both verbal and written) and demonstrates attentiveness through active listening and engaged body language. -Collaborates, respects, and cooperates with all co-workers, valuing differences and addressing concerns directly, while actively contributing to the vision and results of the team. -Warmly, personally, and professionally greets all internal and external customers, promoting a high level of satisfaction by providing information about what to expect, actively listening, and intentionally following up on questions and concerns, including taking corrective action when necessary.
