Travel RN – Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Position Highlights

  • Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
  • Beds: 24
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM/PM start)
  • EMR: Epic
  • Orientation: 2 unit shifts

 

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS

Staffing & Ratios

  • IMCU: 1:3 (Days), 1:4 (Nights)
  • ICU-level acuity may require 1:2 or 1:1
  • Float assignments up to 1:5 when floating to Tele/IMCU

Patient Population

  • CVA (including post-TPA)
  • AAA
  • MI (diagnostic cath only)
  • Hypertension
  • GI Bleeds
  • Septic Shock
  • Atrial Fibrillation with RVR
  • External Temporary Pacemakers
  • ECOS
  • Whipple procedures
  • Drug/Alcohol overdose and detox (including Precedex)
  • High-acuity behavioral health and homeless populations

Clinical Skills

  • Titrate all critical drips
  • Interpret telemetry strips
  • Care for high-acuity IMCU patients
  • Experience with BiPAP and critical care monitoring preferred

Unit Resources

  • Charge Nurse (generally no patient assignment)
  • CNA support (1:8)
  • Monitor Technicians (RN interpretation required)
  • Phillips IntelliVue monitors
  • AVEA ventilators
  • 24/7 Hospitalist
  • IV Team (days) and Resource Nurse (nights)
  • 24/7 Respiratory Therapy
  • 24/7 Pharmacy support

Schedule

  • Every other weekend
  • Every other holiday

Dress Code

  • Caribbean Blue scrubs
  • Black or Caribbean Blue pants
  • Black or white undershirts permitted

Candidate Requirements To be considered, candidates must: Have an accurate and up-to-date profile Have prior travel nursing experience Have Epic experience Be available for the scheduled orientation date Have minimal RTO (none during the first 2 weeks) Not be working another assignment while accepting this contract Hold all required certifications
