Description

American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN for a night shift hospital position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with float responsibilities across multiple critical care units.

Details

  • Critical Care Float position within a hospital setting
  • Primary floating to ICU with potential to float to MS, MS/Tele, PCU, and other ICU units
  • Cares for adult to geriatric patient population across MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, Neuro ICU, and CVICU diagnoses
  • Patient ratios include 1:2-3 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in MS/MS Tele
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Works every other weekend, averaging 6 weekends over a 13-week contract
  • Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication tools
  • No on-call requirements
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Skills in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD, and post neurosurgery care preferred
  • Knowledge of cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and infection prevention practices

Additional Information

  • Provides critical care nursing across multiple specialty units as part of a hospital float pool
  • Floating required to various units based on facility need
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who cancel or receive a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
