Position Overview
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality rehabilitative care to patients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping individuals improve their independence and quality of life through personalized therapy programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans
- Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patient mobility and daily living skills
- Monitor patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Document treatments, progress notes, and patient responses accurately and timely
- Educate patients and family members on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs
- Maintain compliance with all facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Support patients in achieving rehabilitation goals and improving functional independence
Education & Certification Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification
- Active California COTA License required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Previous rehabilitation or skilled nursing experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative healthcare team
