Job Title: CVOR Surgical Technician Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 5/8's Hours per Shift: 0715-1500 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required state license Certifications: BLS Must-Have: COVID vaccine required Robotics experience preferred, not required Description: COVID vaccine is required for this position. The CVOR unit has 4 suites and performs between 22-45 cases per day across multiple specialties. The Cath lab and CVOR are in close proximity to each other. Cath lab nurses will run wires, and the circulating CVOR nurse will be on standby in case a vascular case goes open. Experience with robotics is preferred, but training will be provided for those without it. Candidates must hold a state license and BLS certification. The charting system used is EPIC. There is a charge nurse on every shift who oversees both Main and CVOR. The weekend requirement for techs includes being on-call. In addition to scheduled shifts, expect 8-9 on-call days per month for techs. On-call hours begin at 9 PM and end at 6:30 AM the following morning. Weekend call duties are structured as 12-hour day and night shifts or 24-hour back-up. Common types of cases include standard cardiac cases, caths, and thoracic cases. Scrubbing is required for surgical techs. Housing can be difficult to secure, but block scheduling can be accommodated. This assignment may require floating to other areas as needed. The facility has 24/7 resources available, including an IV team and pharmacy services. Shifts are typically Monday through Friday, with varied start times depending on contract specifications. There is a cancellation policy stating the facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
