Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join a collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team serving frail and elderly adults. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will provide restorative and rehabilitative therapy services designed to improve independence, safety, mobility, and overall quality of life.
This position offers the opportunity to build meaningful long-term relationships with participants while working in a patient-centered environment focused on holistic care and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer occupational therapy treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist
- Assist with assessments including vital signs, range of motion measurements, and strength testing
- Implement individualized treatment plans to improve functional abilities and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Document participant progress, treatment interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
- Coordinate participant scheduling for therapy sessions and clinical visits
- Utilize therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment, and treatment techniques to enhance independence and safety
- Promote muscle re-education, cognitive function, balance, endurance, and motor skills development
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to achieve participant goals
- Provide education and support to participants, caregivers, and family members regarding therapy programs and equipment
- Participate in care planning discussions and interdisciplinary team meetings
Requirements
- Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
- Active California Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) License or proof of eligibility
- Minimum of two (2) years of OTA experience in a clinical setting
- Experience working with frail, elderly, or geriatric populations preferred
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy interventions and rehabilitation techniques
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Ability to provide services in both clinic and home-based settings as needed
