Position Summary

A Certified Occupational Therapist (OT) evaluates and treats patients who have physical, developmental, emotional, or cognitive impairments that affect their ability to perform daily activities. Occupational Therapists help patients improve independence, develop functional skills, and adapt to limitations caused by injury, illness, disability, or aging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and functional assessments
  • Develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
  • Implement therapeutic activities and rehabilitation programs
  • Assist patients in improving fine motor skills, coordination, strength, and daily living activities
  • Train patients in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and home exercise programs
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Maintain accurate documentation, evaluations, and progress notes
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, healthcare regulations, and patient safety standards
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current Occupational Therapist license/certification in the practicing state
  • National certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Strong knowledge of rehabilitation practices, anatomy, and therapeutic interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in acute care, rehabilitation, pediatrics, geriatrics, outpatient therapy, or home health
  • Experience with EMR/EHR documentation systems
  • Specialized certifications in hand therapy, sensory integration, neurological rehabilitation, or pediatrics
  • Travel healthcare experience preferred for contract positions
  • Experience working with behavioral health or developmental disability populations
