Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant Profession: Occupational Therapy Assistant Specialty: Long Term Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in a long-term care setting License: Texas or compact license required Certifications: None specified Must-Have: - 2 years OTA experience in a long-term care setting - Texas or compact license Description: Executes specialized therapy plans designed by the Occupational Therapist. Guides patients through therapeutic exercises and activities to improve motor skills and coordination. Teaches patients how to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Uses adaptive techniques as needed. Instructs patients and families on how to use adaptive equipment like reachers, mobility aids, or modified kitchen utensils. Records detailed notes on patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns. Reports findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatment plans as necessary. Provides emotional encouragement to patients. Trains caregivers on how to assist with home programs. Prepares treatment areas and cleans equipment. May handle administrative duties related to scheduling and documentation.
