Job Title: Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech Profession: Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech Specialty: - Duration: 45 days Shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital; 6-12 months during CVT accredited program or 2 years in another cardiac vascular laboratory. License: N/A Certifications: N/A Must-Have: Proficient in Cardiac Cath; CCL scrub experience required. Description: The Cardiovascular Tech I will assist physicians with all procedures, including Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty, Atherectomy, TEC, Rotablator, Valvuloplasty, Intra-vascular Ultrasound, Pulmonary Angiograms, Insertion of Intra-aortic balloon pumps and stents. The role includes acquiring the knowledge and skill to assist in the performance of all other procedures and new technologies that arise during the course of research and development. Responsibilities include preparing sterile trays for each procedure and organizing specific equipment, preparing patients prior to procedures by attaching EKG leads, performing scrubbing protocols, and draping patients. The tech assists nurses in the preparation of patients for monitoring and calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings. The role includes assisting physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures and loading and operating power injectors. Utilization and maintenance of digital cine technologies, including protocols for storage and retrieval of patient images and hemodynamic records, are essential. Ensuring proper downloading of all CD acquisitions to the hospital mainframe for review through intranet is required. Assistance in supportive measures necessary to restore and maintain patients' well-being during emergencies is crucial. The tech helps with the removal of procedural sheaths after patient transfer and supports insertion of vascular closure devices. Inventory control responsibilities include notifying appropriate individuals of diminished supplies. Maintenance, calibration, and routine evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment are also part of the role. Lifting a minimum of 40 lbs, pushing and pulling a minimum of 100 lbs, and standing for a minimum of 4 hours a day are required. Identifying and delivering care specific to the needs of the patient population served is important, including effective communication with patients and caregivers based on their developmental and educational levels. Adherence to the standards identified in organizational competencies is necessary. Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques is required. Preferred education includes a Bachelor's degree.
