Job Title: Cardiac Cath Tech Profession: Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours (0700-1730) Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital. License: ARRT, BLS Certifications: - Must-Have: - Balloon Pump insertion - Impella Insertion - Pacemaker insertion preferred - IVUS - Mechanical thrombectomy Description: The Cardiovascular Tech I will assist physicians with all procedures. This includes Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty, Atherectomy, TEC, Rotablator, Valvuloplasty, Intra-vascular Ultrasound, Pulmonary Angiograms, Insertion of Intra-aortic balloon pumps and stents. The role requires acquiring knowledge and skills to assist in the performance of other procedures and new technologies as they arise. Essential functions include: - Preparing sterile trays for each procedure and organizing specific equipment. - Preparing patients prior to procedures, attaching EKG leads, performing betadine scrubs according to protocol, and draping patients. - Assisting in the preparation of patients for monitoring. - Calibrating and testing transducers for accurate pressure readings. - Assisting throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures. - Loading and operating power injectors. - Utilizing and maintaining required standards for digital cine technologies. - Ensuring proper downloading of CD acquisitions for availability through intranet with internet capabilities. - Assisting nursing staff and physicians in supportive measures necessary for patient well-being in emergencies. - Assisting in the removal of procedural sheaths post-transfer. - Assisting in the insertion of all vascular closure devices. - Assisting in inventory control by notifying relevant individuals about diminished supplies. - Assisting with maintenance, calibration, and evaluation of diagnostic and technical equipment. - Lifting a minimum of 40 lbs, pushing/pulling 100 lbs, and standing a minimum of 4 hours each day. - Identifying the needs of the patient population served and modifying care accordingly. - Communicating with patients, parents, and caregivers at their appropriate level. - Adhering to the standards identified in organizational competencies.
