General Information
o Beds: 15 labs total shared between Cath Lab, EP, and Hybrid, but about 11 of those are strictly Cath Lab. Travelers will only be in Cath Lab
o Experience: 3 years
o First-time traveler: No
Patient Types:
o This is a fast paced, high acuity Cath Lab. They do anywhere between 24-40 cases a day. Adults, no peds
o Cath Lab: Diagnostic, interventional, RHC, LHC, STEMI/NSTEMI, CTO, valvuloplasty, Cardiomems, biopsies, atherectomies, staged PCI, IABP, Impella; ECMO (preferred)
o Peripheral diagnostic and interventional cases, some fistulograms as well
o Hybrid (experience preferred but not required): AAA grafts, thoracic grafts, clips, lots of TAVRs, Watchman
Patient Ratios:
o 1:1
Required Certifications:
o RN: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS (preferred)
o RTR: BLS, ACLS, ARRT(R), WI License; RCIS (preferred)
Skills required:
o RN and RTR: Cath Lab and Peripheral cases listed above. Hybrid experience preferred but not required
o RN: Conscious sedation, titrating/managing drips
o RTR: Scrubbing, panning
o Permanent staff will monitor cases
Support on the Unit:
o Housekeeping will turn over rooms
o Storeroom staff will manage supply room; Rooms stocked by night shift Cath Lab employees
o Transporter during the day from 0630-2000
o Receptionist/HUC: Yes, 0600-2000
o Charge nurse/Lead Tech: yes, will try to stay out of cases
o RT: 24/7, will manage vents if vented patients in lab
o Hospitalist: 24/7
o Cardiology in house 24/7
o Critical Response Team will come for codes if needed
Charting System/Equipment:
o EPIC
o Alaris
o Pyxis
o C-arms: GE
o Other equipment used: Volcano, St. Jude, Alphavac, Angiovac, EKOS, Anari (experience not required)
o Hemodynamic: GE Pruka (aka Maclab)
o PACS: Fuji and ProSolv
o IABP: Maquet

o None
Orientation:
o 1 week of orientation
Scheduling:
o Refer to job posting for hours department is staffed 24/7
o Day/Mids rotation with occasional weekend shifts. Call required as needed for the department. Traveler will work varying shifts 8h or 12h (600-1430, 1100-1930, 1200-2030 or 600-1830) or a combo of 8h/12h to meet their weekly shift requirement.
o Weekend rotation:
Sometimes travelers will be scheduled weekends (as above), but it s usually just call. (Fri-Fri call every 2 months is worst case scenario)
o Call Required:
The scheduled shift will be 1200-2030.
Will be on call from Friday-Friday (7 days of call) every 2-3 months. May not have to take call all 7 days - set traveler up for worst case scenario, which is 7 days of call every 2 months.
Call will be end of shift until the following morning at 0600.

o Can we approve time off? 7 days
o Holiday Expectations: Typically, travelers do not work holidays

o AAH adheres to a fatigue policy where all staff, including travelers, cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
