Job Summary: Responsible for the safe operation of fluoroscopic and radiographic equipment in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Coordinates care with the physicians and other departments. Performs in the following roles for adult and geriatric cardiac catheterization procedures: computer operator, scrub assistant, second circulator, and recovery technician. Job Responsibilities: --45% Daily: -Assists circulating RN with assessment and implementation of care for CVL patients by recognizing drugs and lab values that may contraindicate Cath procedure and relays information to appropriate personnel. -Recognizing drugs and lab values that may contraindicate Cath procedure and relays information to appropriate personnel. -Documenting appropriate information in the medical record: accurately enters/records patient demographics, accurately documents procedural information for all procedures, continuously monitors hemodynamic data and relays information to appropriate personnel and accurately analyzes hemodynamic waveforms. -Assists scrub personnel with acquisition of needed equipment, sets up equipment and first line assist physician during procedures while maintaining sterile technique. -Properly disposes of biohazardous materials and contaminated equipment. -Accurately calculates valve areas and shunts. -Assists the physician/RN in the management of emergency situations by coordinating emergency transfers per BHH policy. -Assist with access and administration of medications on and off the sterile field. -Ensures all medications/solutions are labeled on and off the sterile field. -Demonstrates proficiency in performance of Cath Lab during a code per policy. --35% Safety: -Monitors and assesses radiation and safety in accordance with the code of practice guidelines. -Adheres to radiation protection guidelines as it applies to CVL personnel and the patient. --10% Communication: -Recognizing initial slight alterations in patient s body systems, i.e., vital signs, overt physical signs, and communicating to appropriate members of health care team. --10% Other Duties: -Performs other duties as assigned.
