Summary: The Cath Lab Technologist supports both diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures within the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic measurements, assisting physicians during procedures, and maintaining patient safety at all times. This role requires operation of advanced imaging technology, adherence to sterile technique, and close collaboration with the care team to ensure high-quality outcomes. Strong technical knowledge, critical thinking, and the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environments are essential. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and appropriately position patients for procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiology studies Assist physicians during interventions by handling catheters, guidewires, balloons, and stents, as well as operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring systems Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment, contrast delivery systems, and monitoring devices to ensure optimal performance Participate in sterile field setup and scrub in for procedures while following infection control standards and protocols Perform sheath removal and achieve hemostasis using manual pressure or closure devices as directed Accurately document patient information, procedural details, imaging results, and equipment usage Support inventory control by stocking supplies and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications Follow radiation safety practices, including appropriate use of protective equipment such as lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters Comply with facility policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements Maintain adherence to infection prevention and overall safety standards Complete other duties within scope of practice as assigned Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong critical thinking abilities, commitment to service excellence, and effective communication skills Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to interpret written materials, follow verbal instructions, and utilize basic computer applications Physical capability to stand or remain stationary for extended periods, move throughout the department, and lift or maneuver equipment weighing 50–100 lbs, including pushing, pulling, and bending Ability to collaborate professionally with a diverse team while maintaining a positive attitude Fine motor skills and manual dexterity necessary for assisting with procedures and operating equipment Capacity to manage frequent interactions with patients and staff while meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment Ability to work both independently and with occasional supervision Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and maintain consistent attention to detail Adequate vision and communication skills to safely perform job responsibilities
