RN:
Active RN license to practice in state.
2+ years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience (no first‐time travelers).
Current BLS and ACLS.
Tech:
2+ years of Cardiac Cath Lab / EP experience (no first‐time travelers).
Active ARRT certification; RCIS alone is not accepted.
Current BLS and ACLS.
3 Cardiac Cath Labs supporting interventional and electrophysiology procedures.
Busy, high‐volume environment with 5–15 cases per day.
No floating; purely Cath Lab rotation only.
Procedural specialty: Combined Cath Lab and EP coverage.
Cath Lab procedures include:
Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization (LHC/RHC).
NSTEMI and STEMI primary PCI.
Impella and IABP (balloon pump) support.
Rotoblator and orbital atherectomy.
CTOs and staged PCI.
Shockwave IVL therapy.
Temporary pacemakers.
Peripheral (lower‐extremity) diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Insertion of loop recorders.
EP procedures include:
Micra leadless pacemakers.
Single‐/dual‐chamber pacemakers and AICDs.
Lead extractions and revisions.
Generator changes.
RN Skills:
Administration of moderate sedation (e.g., Versed/Fentanyl).
Management of critical IV drips and hemodynamic monitoring.
Ability to monitor and circulate cases across the full spectrum of above‐listed procedures.
Preferred: Direct experience with all cath and EP case types described.
Tech Skills:
Laser lead extraction.
Rotoblator and other rotational atherectomy devices.
FFR and IVUS imaging.
Impella and IABP management.
EKOS thrombectomy.
Pacemaker and lead‐related procedures (placement, revision, extraction).
Scrub and pan‐table roles.
Medrad injector proficiency.
Groin site management and post‐procedure monitoring.
Within the department:
Charge RN participates directly in cases.
Dedicated receptionist.
Hospitalist/physician coverage after hours.
Respiratory therapy support.
Manager/supervisor oversight.
Technology and equipment:
EMR: EPIC.
IV pumps: Alaris.
Medication dispensing: Pyxis.
Hemodynamic monitoring: Phillips.
PACS: Merge.
Unit equipment: Phillips C‐arm systems.
Facility orientation: New Employee Orientation (NEO).
Unit orientation: 1 day on the Cath Lab unit.
Shift: 10‐hour shifts, 0700–1730.
Schedule cycle: 6‐week blocks with self‐scheduling, subject to manager approval.
On‐call structure (RN & Tech):
Weekend on‐call:
4‐week call schedule.
2 weekend shifts required (1 Saturday and 1 Sunday, either together or split).
Weekday on‐call:
4–5 overnight call shifts per 4‐week period.
30‐minute response time; no on‐site sleep room.
Time off & holidays:
RTO approval: up to 7 days.
Holiday expectations: possibility of being on call, based on unit needs.
Scrubs: Scrub color provided by the facility.
Parking:
Agency can sign up for parking (monthly or 2‐week rates; values redacted as ***).
Large parking capacity; facility is also minutes from the CTA Brown Line for public‐transit access.
