Job Title: Echo Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Echo Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Current state license required Certifications: Certification in cardiac ultrasound by ARDMS or CCI within 12 months of graduation Must-Have: Basic Life Support certification Description: Under the direction of a physician, performs a variety of cardiac ultrasound procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative. Creates technically diagnostic exams for interpretation by a cardiologist or radiologist. Supports and promotes the mission and values of the organization. Provides technically diagnostic quality exams for physician interpretation in a timely manner. Assists physicians during invasive ultrasound procedures. Maintains current state license and appropriate credentials. Performs quality ultrasound exams on patients in the assigned area. Implements clinical protocols and policies. Reviews order requisition for pertinent information and special requests. Reviews physician order for procedure/test. Assists patient reception staff with patient information as needed. Completes documentation on patient exams and assures appropriate exam charges. Maintains medical supplies and required stock items in all rooms. Prepares and cleans patient exam rooms. Prepares all equipment necessary to perform patient exams appropriately. Performs other duties consistent with this role as required. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks associated with this position. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress may be related to a high level of responsibility for quality care.
