Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Profession: Allied Anesthesia Tech Specialty: Anesthesia Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 1:30 PM - 10:30 PM Experience: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech License: BLS preferred (American Heart Association ONLY) Certifications: Certification preferred by a nationally recognized professional certifying body Must-Have: - Two years of experience in a related role - BLS certification Description: Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival. Place anesthesia monitors and ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment. Ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies. Set up medications and supplies where applicable. Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters. Operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports. Participate in advanced surgical cases including cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, and thoracic surgeries. Work directly with service-specific faculty. Provide on-call coverage as required. Support in ensuring that the anesthesia equipment is in good working order. Complete preventive maintenance as necessary. Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting. Serve as a key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment. Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs. Train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist. Perform anesthesia equipment set up and troubleshooting tasks. Test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors. Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to videomonitors. Set up rooms between cases and provide full-service setup at the end of the day. Ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment across shared areas. Provide setup and support for ectopic procedures ensuring proper equipment is in place. Backup the shift supervisor in their absence due to vacation or illness. Perform other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor or chief anesthesia technologist.
