Job Details

Role Overview
This is an opportunity for a Civil Engineering Project Manager to take ownership of transportation-focused projects from planning through construction. The role is highly visible and client-facing, with responsibility for leading design efforts, managing budgets, and guiding project teams.
You’ll work closely with leadership while also serving as a key point of contact for clients, agencies, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities

Lead roadway and transportation design projects for municipal and public sector clients
Partner with senior leadership on client meetings, proposals, and project strategy
Manage budgets, schedules, and overall project performance from concept through delivery [in.gov]
Oversee internal design teams and collaborate with project engineers to develop plans and specifications
Coordinate with survey, environmental, and other internal groups, as well as external subconsultants
Support public involvement efforts, including attending meetings or hearings when needed
Handle invoicing, monitor financials, and keep projects on track
Assist with the bidding phase and work closely with contractors and field teams during construction
Provide consistent updates to both leadership and clients on progress and key milestones

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
Strong background in project management, including leading teams and managing deliverables
Experience in roadway design; familiarity with INDOT standards is highly preferred [burgessniple.com]
Exposure to traffic engineering, signal design, or traffic impact studies is a plus
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana, or ability to obtain
Comfortable working with clients and coordinating across multiple stakeholders
Strong communication skills and ability to keep projects moving forward
