GovFirst is seeking a dependable and safety -focused <\/span><\/span>Transportation Operator<\/span><\/span><\/b> to support roadway maintenance operations in Seaford, VA. This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and repair of state roadways and rights -of -way, operating maintenance equipment and tools, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting emergency response operations. The ideal candidate is committed to safety, teamwork, and delivering high -quality roadway maintenance services.

Assist with the repair and maintenance of state roadways, bridges, and surrounding rights -of -way.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Perform roadway maintenance activities including debris removal, vegetation control, and general maintenance tasks.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Participate as an active member of the maintenance crew to complete assigned projects safely and efficiently.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Perform heavy manual labor required to support roadway maintenance operations.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and roadway maintenance equipment.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment and tools.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Report equipment deficiencies or repair needs to supervisors.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Utilize equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and safety procedures.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Maintain knowledge of OSHA, VOSHA, VDOT, and company safety policies and procedures.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Follow all roadway work zone safety regulations and best practices.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Support emergency operations including snow removal, storm response, roadway incident response, and accident cleanup.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Respond to emergency call -outs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and severe weather events when required.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>
Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members to accomplish project objectives.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>
Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned by supervisors or the USF Senior Project Manager.
<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div>
Knowledge of roadway maintenance methods, equipment, materials, and procedures.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Experience operating roadway maintenance equipment and performing preventive maintenance.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Ability to work safely in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Ability to respond to emergency operations, including nights, weekends, holidays, storms, and disaster response.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
High School Diploma or GED required.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Equivalent education, training, or related experience may be considered.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
Must be a U.S. Citizen.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Successful completion of required VDOT and industry -specific training.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p><\/li>
Pre -employment drug screening required.<\/span><\/span>
