About the Position
This position is with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and is located in Simpson County. The official MSPB classification title is Transportation Engineer III. This is a seasoned-level engineering position located in the Mendenhall Project Office. The incumbent will perform complex engineering design, design review, project planning, budgeting, and project management duties within a designated engineering discipline. The incumbent will participate in establishing engineering specifications, preparing or revising rules and regulations, reviewing proposed statutory changes and their impact, and providing technical guidance on complex engineering matters. The position may also mentor lower-level professional staff, provide expert advice or testimony to legislative bodies, committees, courts, commissions, external engineering firms, and other entities, and may supervise engineering technicians as assigned.

Work may include interpreting engineering standards, reviewing compliance matters, developing specifications, evaluating proposed rules or statutory changes, mentoring lower-level engineers, and providing expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.
