Transportation Engineer III, IV, or V. Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Establishes own work plan and priorities; handles issues independently.ResponsibilitiesReview construction related to operations.Review shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests.Review traffic engineering studies, traffic impact analysis, warranting of traffic signals and speed zones.Assist Area Engineers with construction contract administration matters.Assist with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Monitor consultants' progress and work quality; check invoices and associated documents; prepare supplemental agreements.Oversee contracts, issue work orders and monitor construction schedules and contractor payments and job progress on construction projects.Perform and/or coordinate the review and processing of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submissions, special specifications or provisions.Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.Assess and report actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for highly complex projects (Transportation Engineer V only).Conduct final inspections on completed construction projects (Transportation Engineer V only).Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science. Bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.Experience (Transportation Engineer III): 6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.Experience (Transportation Engineer IV): 7 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.Experience (Transportation Engineer V): 8 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.Licenses and CertificationsValid driver's license.
