Job Summary
The Logistics & Transportation Operations Specialist is responsible for managing the efficient flow of goods from suppliers to customers, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effective transportation, and compliance with internal and external requirements. This hybrid role combines tactical logistics execution with strategic transportation planning, serving as a key liaison between procurement, warehousing, carriers, and customer service.
Responsibilities
Represent the Logistics organization in daily inbound and outbound execution and delivery status updates
Coordinate with production teams to confirm product availability and shipment readiness
Partner with Customer Service to ensure shipments align with customer delivery commitments
Create, plan, and execute inbound and outbound shipments within the TMS from pickup through delivery
Secure carrier capacity using approved carriers and routing guides
Monitor transit progress, ETAs, and delivery performance; proactively escalate risks or delays
Validate proof of delivery (POD) and resolve delivery discrepancies
Enter, audit, and maintain shipment cost data to ensure accuracy against approved project scopes
Identify freight cost variances and escalate exceptions for resolution
Develop and maintain project-specific carrier playbooks including routing, contacts, delivery requirements, and documentation standards
Support post-shipment freight reconciliation and invoice validation
Maintain departmental reporting related to outbound delivery performance, carrier execution, and freight spend
Provide cross-functional backup coverage for inbound transportation and basic trade compliance activities as required
Qualifications:
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred
3-5+ years of experience in outbound logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain operations
Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
Strong customer service and delivery-focused mindset
Ability to earn trust and credibility through consistent professionalism and accountability
Strong communication skills with internal stakeholders and external carrier partners
Ability to manage multiple shipments, priorities, and deadlines with minimal supervision
Demonstrated attention to detail and data accuracy
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics reporting tools
Preferred
Project-based logistics or customer delivery management experience
Experience supporting multiple plant locations
Understanding of freight cost drivers, carrier pricing, and contract compliance
