Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 8 years of experience in transmission planning or power systems engineering
Required Skills
Strong experience with:
Power system studies
Fault analysis
Dynamic and transient stability analysis
Transmission planning and TPL assessments
Hands-on experience with:
PSS®E
TARA or similar transmission assessment tools
Experience performing engineering QA/QC reviews
Strong understanding of transmission system modeling methodologies
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote team environments
Proven ability to operate as a self-starter with minimal direction
Preferred Skills
Experience interacting with ISO/RTO organizations
Prior experience supporting utility-scale transmission systems
Responsibilities
Perform transmission system planning studies and analyses for bulk power systems
Conduct power system studies including:
Fault analysis
Stability analysis
Thermal and voltage assessments
TPL compliance studies
Develop and maintain transmission system models
Execute and review modeling and simulation studies using industry-standard tools
Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering studies and technical deliverables
Support reliability and compliance-related assessments
Collaborate with remote engineering and operations teams through virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training support to team members
Work independently to identify study needs, prioritize tasks, and drive projects forward with minimal oversight
Coordinate with external stakeholders, consultants, and ISO/RTO organizations as needed
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer to support transmission system planning, modeling, and reliability assessments for a large utility environment. This role requires a self-driven engineer who can independently perform technical studies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help strengthen internal engineering capabilities.
This role involves performing transmission system planning studies and analyses for bulk power systems.
