Purpose & Job Related Requirements

Athens Transit Department

Pay: $18.10/hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

Safety-sensitive position (drug testing required)

Help keep Athens Transit buses and bus stops clean, safe, and running every day. You'll perform basic maintenance on buses (like checking fluids and changing tires), clean vehicles, maintain bus stops, and support daily transit operations.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must obtain Class B CDL with passenger endorsement within 6 months
  • At least 6 months of related work
  • Able to lift, stand, and work in all weather
  • Reliable and team-oriented

Essential Duties, Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Fuel, clean, and service buses and transit vehicles
  • Check fluids, tires, and basic vehicle condition
  • Wash and detail buses (inside and out)
  • Respond to breakdowns and assist with minor repairs
  • Clean transit facilities and bus stops
  • Operate equipment like bus washers, pressure washers, and sanitation trucks
  • Move and park vehicles safely
