Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility:
The Transfer & International Admissions Counselor recruits, advises, and evaluates prospective transfer and international students through territory management, travel, application review, and admissions decision-making. This role supports enrollment goals by building relationships with community colleges, international partners, and prospective students while guiding them through the admissions, transfer credit evaluation, and enrollment process.
The counselor collaborates with the Director of University Admissions to implement recruitment and marketing strategies for transfer and international students.
This position requires seasonal travel within an assigned region, as well as evening and weekend hours during peak recruitment periods.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Outreach
- Represent Bethel University at transfer fairs, virtual events, international recruitment events, campus and classroom visits, conferences, community outreach activities within an assigned recruitment territory.
- Plan and coordinate transfer and international-specific events including transfer information sessions, virtual Information sessions, transfer/international mixers, and campus tours as well as support on campus recruitment events such as Preview Days and yield events.
- Maintain consistent communication with prospective students through email, phone calls, text messaging, WhatsApp, and virtual platforms.
Admissions Guidance and Processing
- Advise transfer and international prospective students with accurate, personalized information about Bethels academic offerings, campus life, and admissions process.
- Evaluate applications and transcripts (domestic and international) and develop pathways to enrollment.
- International Compliance- Support SEVIS compliance and I-20 processing, advise on visas and English proficiency.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student records and interactions in the Universitys CRM system.
Data and Reporting
- Track recruitment activities, including student inquiries, applications, and assistance in meeting institutional enrollment targets.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student records and interactions in the Universitys CRM system to manage territory and outreach strategies effectively.
- Stay updated on institutional policies related to transfer credit, international policies, articulation agreements, and admissions standards.
Collaboration and Engagement
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community colleges by establishing articulation agreements and building strong relationships with transfer and international coordinators and academic advisors.
- Collaborate with campus offices, including Financial Aid, Registrar, Academics, Athletics, and Student Life, to provide comprehensive information to applicants.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions to support team growth and institutional goals.
Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge/Education
- Bachelors degree required; preferred areas include education, communications, marketing, or a related field.
Experience
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems preferred.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly and work evenings/weekends during peak periods.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge/Education
- Familiarity with admissions practices and higher education environments.
Experience
Experience in student recruitment, public speaking, or customer service roles.
Previous use of admissions software or CRM tools (e.g., Element451, Slate, Salesforce, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment with regular travel for recruitment activities.
