Purpose of Position
The purpose of the position is to provide assistance to incoming transfer, readmitted, and non-degree students at the University of North Dakota. This position will work with retention and recruitment of these students. They will provide accurate information on all needs relating to course registration, next steps needed and additional information based on each program. This position will work closely with college transfer advising process (CTA) and the Transfer Student Coordinator on all needs for transfer students. This position processes transfer equivalencies throughout each of the three academic semesters at the University of North Dakota.
Duties & Responsibilities
College Transfer Advising and Coordination (CTA)
CTA oversight for all seven colleges
Determine transfer coursework that needs further evaluation for equivalency
Collaborate with departments to facilitate course evaluations
Collaborate with Academic Advising Managers to update equivalencies in TES
Hold training for staff on campus as needed on the CTA process
Continuous improvement on all processes and policies to ensure the transfer experience is effective and efficient
Transfer Pathways
Collaborate with college advisors to ensure transfer pathways are updated regularly
Collaborate with college advisors to create new transfer pathways as needed
Provide support to the Transfer Coordinator to improve the transfer experience for students from two-year institutions
Continuous improvement on all processes and policies to ensure the transfer experience is effective and efficient
Understand, utilize, and accurately communicate policies, procedures, technology/tools, and resources
Understand institutional specific policies and procedures such as term dates and deadline, ES petition, Ad Pro petition, withdrawal processes, graduation applications, changes of major, collaborative course processes, readmission and reinstatement processes, academic grievance processes, etc.
Understand program/college/University goals for retention and graduation
Basics of financial aid
Career exploration tools (e.g. Academic and Career Exploration, career services events, pairings of degree options, graduate or professional degree options)
Campus resources and services
Advising technology including Campus Connection, Civitas products as used at UND, Transfer Advising Technology like TES, and others as determined necessary in the completion of effective general advising
Student technology including student use of Campus Connection, Hawk Central, and Blackboard
Participation in professional development, student centered events, and other duties as assigned
Attend on-campus workshops for professional development
Yearly participation in regional/national advising professional development opportunities
