General Function

This position primarily evaluates official college transcripts from other institutions. They also apply credit when applicable from other accepted sources. This position also performs other necessary functions to support both the Senior Registrar and Associate Registrars.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.

Reviews transfer transcripts (from other colleges and universities, domestic or international) to ensure they are in accordance with policies set forth by Central Piedmont Community College, Southern Associate of Colleges and Schools' Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the North Carolina Community College System, and the Department of Education.

2.

Determines accreditation status of transfer institutions.

3.

Analyzes transcripts to ensure courses are acceptable.

4.

Analyzes course descriptions and works with academic departments to convert transfer courses to Central Piedmont course equivalencies.

5.

Ensures that transfer credit is quickly, accurately, and completely recorded in the student information system to support course planning.

6.

Evaluates military service and non-traditional experiences for possible credit.

7.

Works closely with the Associate Registrar to process incoming documents to department workflows and ensure all processes are operating efficiently.

8.

Supports the Associate Registrar with record creation, upkeep and maintenance as needed.

9.

Helps to ensure FERPA regulations are enforced at all times.

10.

Promptly respond to requests for information (mail, e-mail, telephone, etc.).

11.

Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Registrar.

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

Associate's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience within a registration and records department in a higher education environment

Strong computer skills with experience in Ellucian Colleague software and Aviso CRM

  • Knowledge of records and registration procedures and systems
  • Knowledge of College policies, state, and federal laws such as FERPA
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, visualize changes and solutions
  • Ability to think strategically, effectively analyze data, and implement data-informed decisions
