About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. About the Position

This position is within the Office of Special Disabilities Programs (OSDP) and functions as a Program Training Specialist. This position may be located in any OSDP office in Region 4. The Program Training Specialists for OSDP will be training consultants within the Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP) to provide OSDP staff with training and coaching. The OSDP Program Training Specialists will deliver, coordinate, facilitate, and/or evaluate training, policy and procedure development and develop training plans for the assigned OSDP staff. The incumbent will design, develop, and facilitate OSDP training programs in coordination with OSDP Managers in the assigned area; and train OSDP new hires on programs, policies, and procedures. Training will be facilitated in group settings as well as in one-on-one settings. Must be able to travel frequently, including some overnight.

What youll need to be Successful

Positions at this level require a level of OSDP knowledge necessary for training and making recommendations for improvements to and changes to training. Program Training Specialists may provide coaching to all levels of OSDP staff. Training at this level also necessitates these employees have prior OSDP knowledge, the skills to perform the work, and the ability to review the work trainees perform and provide feedback. Candidates should possess strong multi-tasking abilities, with demonstrated experience in project management and coordinating with multiple staff. OSDP Training Coordinators should know about HCBS Waivers, DOM, and LTSS, with a working knowledge of the OSDP Tickler System, proper case note documentation, OSDP Policy and Procedure development and coaching.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. Agency preferred qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university; and four (4) years of relevant experience. Prior Office of Special Disability Program (OSDP) experience is required.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
