Training Specialist/Direct Care Worker

Location: McConnellsburg, PA (serving the McConnellsburg and Somerset PA service areas)

Schedule:  Full-time; 25-30 hours as a training specialist, and 10-15 hours per week as a Direct Care Worker for up to 40 hours per week.

Community Resources for Independence is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and experienced Training Specialist/Direct Care Worker (DCW) to help make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, veterans, and older adults.

This unique position combines the rewarding work of providing direct support to individuals with the opportunity to train, mentor, and develop new Direct Care Workers.  Approximately 25-30 hours each week will be dedicated to training responsibilities, with 10-15 hours per week spent direct care services.  This position is based out of our McConnellsburg office and requires travel throughout the McConnellsburg and Somerset Service areas.

What You’ll Do:

Training Specialist Responsibilities

• Conduct orientation and hands-on skills training for new Direct Care Workers
• Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and support to current DCWs
• Serve as a resource for staff regarding client care, service plans, CRI policies, and best practices
• Identify training needs and communicate with the supervisor on recommendations for improvements
• Document all required training activities and maintain training records
• Train staff on Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) procedures and compliance
• Report feedback, safety concerns, policy issues, and opportunities for improvement to the Supervisor
• Assist in developing new training materials and educational resources with management
• Collaborate with management and office staff to ensure successful onboarding and continued staff development

Direct Care Worker Responsibilities

When scheduled in the field, you will provide compassionate care that promotes independence and enhances the quality of life by:

• Assisting individuals with personal care, bathing, dressing, and hygiene
• Helping with transfers, mobility, repositioning
• Assisting with toileting and medication reminders
• Preparing meals and assisting with feeding when needed
• Performing light housekeeping and laundry
• Transporting individuals to appointments, errands, and community activities
• Following individualized care plans and documenting services provided
• Maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Following all CRI safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 3 years of experience providing direct care to individuals with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities or older adults
• Previous experience training or mentoring others is preferred
• CNA certification preferred, but not required
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and satisfactory driving record
• Ability to travel throughout the service area
• Ability to pass required background clearances and pre-employment screening
• Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirement

Applicants should be able to:

• Safely assist transfers and mobility
• Lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds or apply 20 pounds of force
• Operate lifting and transferring equipment
• Perform personal care duties, housekeeping, and other physical tasks required to support individuals
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
