TRAINING OFFICER/ASSISTANT SAFETY OFFICER-WV PARKWAYS AUTHORITY-RALEIGH CO.

SALARY: $71,581.03

Position Summary:

The Training Officer / Assistant Safety Officer supports the Safety Officer and reports directly to the Director of Field & Safety and the Assistant Director of Field & Safety. This position is responsible for assisting in the coordination, implementation, and administration of the organizations training and safety programs. Key responsibilities include supporting employee training initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements, conducting inspections, maintaining training and safety records, and providing operational support to foster a safe, compliant, and effective work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Training Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating and scheduling employee training programs, meetings, and seminars.
  • Facilitate and support in-house training sessions and orientation programs.
  • Maintain and update employee training records and documentation.
  • Assist with the development, revision, and distribution of training materials and procedures.
  • Research and coordinate external training opportunities and resources.
  • Monitor training participation and assist in evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Support annual training planning, scheduling, and reporting activities.
  • Coordinate training-related activities with the Division of Personnel and other departments as needed.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Assist with safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and worksites.
  • Support implementation and enforcement of Safety Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in tracking, documenting, and reporting safety concerns and incidents.
  • Participate in internal quality control inspections and follow-up activities.
  • Assist with formal and informal investigations as directed.
  • Support onsite random drug testing coordination activities.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with organizational safety standards and procedures.
  • Respond to roadway incidents, emergencies, and operational events as needed.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports, memoranda, correspondence, and training documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records related to training, inspections, incidents, and compliance activities.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support for safety and training operations.
  • Assist management with special projects and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED required.

Must be able to pass background check.

Must have Valid Drivers license

College degree or additional training in safety, training, or related field preferred.

Experience in roadway and environmental safety, training, coordination, administration, or related work preferred.

Knowledge of workplace safety practices and training principles preferred.
