Training Manager

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. We endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation's sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.

Training Managers support the development and provision of quality, interactive training and outreach for abuse prevention in sport to organizations inside and outside the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Movement. Training managers provide training participants with fundamental knowledge and help them develop skills needed to raise awareness about, identify, and prevent abuse in sport.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, maintain and implement customized materials and training sessions in live and virtual formats
  • Build positive relationships with sport organizations and assess for training needs and opportunities and conduct appropriate follow-up after training sessions are completed
  • Continually update knowledge on emerging issues related to abuse prevention in sport and assess when new developments and trends are present and should be implemented in training
  • Conduct thorough research and interviewing to best understand specific sport organization training needs, critical participants, audience, and circumstances that prompt the request or offer of training
  • Collaborate with and support colleagues regularly to keep them updated on trends related to training requests and frequently requested topics and elicit feedback to incorporate into training
  • Coordinate training logistics, manage training tools and software, develop reports, adhere to budgets and maintain clear documentation of activities and time

  • Continuously develop competency in emerging training technologies, tools and concepts
  • Communicate and coordinate across internal departments to ensure collaboration on relevant projects

KSAs (Required + Preferred)

  • Ability to analyze and articulate complicated concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and formal study of sexual abuse prevention, emotional and physical misconduct, child welfare fundamentals and trauma informed care principles
  • High level of comfort and competence in public speaking
  • Demonstrated competencies in varied training techniques based on the principles of adult learning
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Capacity to adapt to quickly changing circumstances and goals
  • Able to work effectively both in groups and independently
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, CRM
  • Prepared and able to work in a predominantly virtual environment
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally up to 80% to accomplish job activities
  • Ability to handle and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive material and information

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, public health, social work, psychology, sociology, legal studies, criminal justice or related field

Required Work Experience:

  • 5 years minimum of professional experience in conducting training focused on abuse prevention, child safety, conducting investigations, or a combination of the three
  • Experience conducting training with large and small groups both virtually and in-person

Preferred work experience:

  • Emotional and physical misconduct prevention experience strongly preferred
  • Course work in child welfare, interpersonal violence, trauma informed care practices, sexual violence, instructional design, curriculum development, evaluation and analysis and/or research methods highly desired

  • Standard office equipment provided
  • Office environment in multi-story, dog-friendly building
  • Some night and weekend work hours
  • Some overnight travel required
  • WORK LOCATION – Denver, CO; or a location deemed suitable by the Center e.g., near major airport and a state where the Center has established business operations. Current states eligible for remote work: AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, MT, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary range for this position is $78,166 – $85,993 and will be commensurate with background and experience.
