TRAINER/DEVELOPER - SUPERVISOR

My client is an industry leader in the design, manufacture and supply of industrial robots and robot systems and expertise.

They operate a fully equipped training robot lab and are currently seeking a SUPERVISING TRAINER / DEVELOPER to join their team. Your responsibility will include the day to day operations of the training lab as well as the training delivery as one of four professional trainer/developers helping customers make the most of their robotic products.

This position offers a satisfying blend of supervisory work, training delivery and material development along with the opportunity for personal growth in a superbly positioned training facility at the Novi, Michigan Headquarters.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Supervise the fully equipped robot training center and supervise three trainer/developers

  • Conduct robot training courses on products for paying customers and staff

  • Manage all supervisory duties while also delivering own roster of training

  • Learn and absorb products, techniques and material and prepare training and documentation

  • Write and create comprehensive course plans, manuals and other instructional material

  • Learn, develop, and deliver custom courses per internal and external customer request

  • Deliver and improve training courses including Operations and Programming, AS Language Programming, Electrical Maintenance and Mechanical Maintenance for all controllers and arms

  • Learn and become SME on new products as released by the company, develop and deliver training

  • Develop and produce various Training aids, Power Point presentations, Video tapes, Job aids, as necessary to meet the training and documentation needs of customers and the company.

  • Help install, debug, reconfigure and maintain robots in the training lab as needed following training

  • Maintain customer database materials and administer client access

  • Develop Robotic Systems documentation as appropriate

  • Travel to installations to support Business units and learn the product/application

Required Skills/Education and Experience

  • Solid Experience in robots and robot systems instruction and the development of supporting materials

OR

  • Deep technical training experience with a strong desire to learn all aspects of robots and robot systems

PLUS

  • Solid supervisory experience within a customer facing professional environment is essential

  • High levels of physical and mental stamina and energy to train classes up to 4 days in duration

  • Excellent verbal delivery style and strong listening and negotiation skills

  • Strong, positive, outgoing and warm personality that encourages trainees’ learning and motivation

  • Bachelor, Associates Degree in any related technical field OR equivalent RELEVANT experience

  • Automation troubleshooting skills/experience/technical inquiring mind

  • Knowledge or sound technical appreciation of robotic processes such as servo spot welding, material handling, sealing, vision guidance, etc.

  • Understanding of interfacing robots to peripheral devices with discrete, fieldbus I/O and serial/Ethernet communications

  • Knowledge of basic computer programming concepts – program structure, variables, conditional statements, subroutines, loops, etc. an advantage.

  • Knowledge of, and exposure to industrial safety procedures and standards for robotic applications

  • Flexibility to react to customer’s needs and provide a professional appearance, approach, demeanor, and manner with all customers

  • Practical working knowledge of PCs; spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing applications, and graphics software programs

  • Must be a team fit within an organization committed to a common goal and continuous improvement

  • Must have ability to travel up to 20 - 30% to deliver training on site
