Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation

JOB OBJECTIVE: To troubleshoot, repair and replace defective traffic signal controllers, signal heads, signal detection systems, signal displays, streetlights and pedestrian signal devices.

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Minimum Qualifications, Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school supplemented by technical or vocational school coursework or apprenticeship in electrical trades work, completion of a recognized four (4) year electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent training, OR three (3) years of experience as a skilled Electrician/Traffic Signal Technician, or related area, and one (1) year of personal computer experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must possess International Municipal Signal Association Traffic Signals Level I certification within one (1) year of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Long Term Disability-60% of salary continuance after6-monthelimination period.

RETIREMENT

PENSION- All full time, non-uniform employees

Non-uniform employees shall be required to participate immediately upon employment in the 2014 Defined Benefit Plan. Contributions are mandatory for both the employee and the ?City. Contribution rates are: Employee: 4.5% of salary Employer 9% of salary.

OTHER COMPENSATION

LONGEVITY PAY (provided to all employees)

Longevity pay will be paid at a rate of $4.00 (four dollars) for each year of service up to and including the fifth (5th) year. Longevity pay will be paid at a rate of $7.00 (seven dollars) per year for the sixth (6th) year of service and each additional year thereafter.
