Major/Essential Functions
Operations & Worksite Management- Monitors, supervises, and supports daily worksite operations, ensuring safe and efficient workflow.
- Provides operational control, direction, and oversight of the Carpenter/Cabinet/Sign Shop, including maintenance, renovations, and new construction.
- Advises the shop foreperson on job status, operational issues, and resource needs.
- Maintains accurate records of labor, materials, and job progress.
Project Planning & Coordination- Assists the shop foreperson in developing projects, preparing cost estimates, coordinating work requirements, and supervising new construction.
- Reviews construction plans, prepares material and cost estimates, and submits requisitions for required materials from the warehouse or vendors.
- Participates in scheduled meetings and training to maintain technical qualifications and support project coordination.
Skilled Carpentry & Maintenance Work- Performs construction, installation, repair, and alteration of structural components including doors, cabinets, shelves, windows, partitions, and wood/glass panels.
- Installs or repairs acoustical ceilings, ceramic tile, brick/CMU block, floor coverings, concrete, and waterproofs various roof types.
- Inspects and performs recurring maintenance in mechanical/equipment rooms and on installed equipment.
Crew Leadership & Training- Assists and instructs crew members on job assignments and proper work methods.
- Trains apprentices and temporary laborers on job related maintenance and carpentry tasks.
- Supports administrative and personnel actions for the assigned crew.
Tools, Equipment & Vehicle Management- Maintains tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Operates pickups, trucks, and vans; secures vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
Additional Duties- Provides after hours and overtime support as required; participates in the emergency callback roster on a rotating basis.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Foreperson or Unit Manager.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Two years experience as a licensed journeyperson in designated trade; or five years related experience. Job-related vocational training or education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

- Good leadership and management abilities as well as mature judgment and personal integrity
- Excellent working knowledge of the Carpentry/Cabinet/Sign Fields. Working knowledge of operation and safeuse of all power and hand tools/equipment common to carpentry field.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to deal with customers, shop personnel, and other department personnel. Have valid drivers license and ability to operate motor vehicles.
- Ability to meet minimum physical fitness requirements.
- Ability to pass pulmonary function test and be certified to wear negative pressure respirator.
Hourly Pay Range
$16.39 - $21.30 - $26.25
