SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary placement based on education and verified contracted teaching experience accepted. Salary Range: $53,283.00 to $83,813.00. Employer-paid retirement, health and life insurance, sick leave benefits and personal leave.

Must possess a Nevada license endorsed for the specific subject(s) and to perform other educational functions at the level and in the field for which he/she is to be employed, issued in accordance with law and in full force at the time the services are rendered. General Job Description:

Under the supervision of the school principal, this position is responsible for identifying and supporting students who are struggling to make adequate progress in school due to academic and/or behavioral concerns including lack of attendance. The Intervention Specialist will provide high quality evidence based practices, researched based interventions, and monitor student progress. The Intervention Specialist will also support data-driven decision making as part of the professional learning community process to guide and differentiate supports based on learner needs. During this time, the Intervention Specialist will be expected to provide student data to school teams and participate in decisions about student progress. In order to be successful in accomplishing these tasks, the Intervention Specialist will use the latest research to promote higher academic expectations based on rigor and relevance.

Experience &/or Training Required:

  • District, departmental, and campus policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Nevada State Standards for Professional Development.
  • Working knowledge of current public education programs and trends.
  • Ability to conduct research and gather data about program effectiveness.
  • Superior reading, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to utilize data base management systems and software systems as part of work in completion of assignments (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Member Center, Mastery Connect, NWEA-MAP, etc).

Ability to:

Intervention Specialist must be able to effectively work with administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals to create and implement an effective learner environment that is engaging and aligned to learner needs. The Intervention Specialist will support classroom instruction and school wide intervention practices that will lead to significant improvement for students who have been identified as needing additional support. In addition, the Intervention Specialist will use assessment and data to guide and differentiate supports for students.

Licenses or Certificates Required:

Possession of a valid Nevada Teaching License, ELAD endorsement preferred; a valid drivers' license issued by the state of residence; and an original Social Security Card. The Job Functions:

The Intervention Specialist will work closely with the school administration, Professional Development Staff, Curriculum Coordinators, Instructional Coaches, and Classroom Teachers to establish effective evidence-based instructional practices that will have an impact on student achievement.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

Assist Schools by Providing Educational Interventions and Progress Monitoring for Students:

  • Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to ensure process fidelity.
  • Work with individual students or small groups of students to provide interventions and progress monitoring.
  • Must be able to follow district directives in implementing this initiative including working with administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
  • Utilize tracking system to maintain lists of students participating in interventions.
  • Understand and participate in the Professional Learning Community Process. Be prepared to share student progress with the classroom teacher and grade level colleagues.
  • Assess and monitor student growth through the collection, disaggregating, and dissemination of formal and informal assessment data, with a particular emphasis on supporting and placing ELL and special education students in the appropriate groups.
  • Become an active member of the School Leadership Team.
  • Communicate all student progress with parents, staff, other school leaders, and the Ed Services Office.
  • Monitor student achievement and programming to ensure that every child is making adequate progress.
  • Communicate and coordinate program with other Intervention Specialists, Classroom Teachers, and Learning Strategists.
  • Prepare student achievement data and communicate regularly with Site Administration, Curriculum Coordinators, and Instructional Coaches regarding program implementation.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Site Principal.

Content Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of MAP assessment. Must be able to navigate website, download data, and provide instruction to others on gathering data and using data to provide instructional interventions.
  • Knowledge of state writing traits and corresponding rubrics.
  • Knowledge of state mandated assessments and data associated with those assessments. Must be able to support teachers across content areas to utilize this data to support student learning in each classroom.
  • Learner-Centered mindset to support unit design and development. This includes establishing learning targets, SMART goals, and assessment development.
  • A deep understanding of best practices including differentiated instruction to meet the needs of special populations including IEP and LEP subgroups.
  • The candidate must be highly skilled in the area of differentiated instruction and the MTSS model.

Professional Integrity:

  • The students of the school must come first. The stance of the Intervention Specialists must be founded in student performance and supporting the change in adult behaviors which ultimately lead to students improving their academic performance in all areas.
  • The Intervention Specialists at each site must be able to support the change process and follow district directives when implementing programming at the elementary school level.

General Information:

  • The Intervention Specialist will operate under a flexible start schedule that will require them to work a 7.5-hour day, but the start time will vary based on daily responsibilities.
  • The Intervention Specialist will be selected by site level administration.
  • The Intervention Specialist must demonstrate the ability to improvise and make adjustments in order to meet the staff development needs of site staff members.
