Job Summary**
The Tooling Engineer at Jabil, Inc. is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of molds, dies, fixtures, and other manufacturing tools. This role ensures the efficient and high-quality production of Jabil's diverse product portfolio, focusing on manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to technical specifications.
Job Responsibilities**
* Design and develop robust and efficient tooling solutions for various manufacturing processes, including injection molding, stamping, and assembly.
* Collaborate with product design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure tool designs meet product requirements, production targets, and quality standards.
* Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews and provide feedback on product designs to optimize tooling requirements.
* Utilize CAD/CAM software (e.g., MasterCam, SolidWorks, Creo, NX) for tool design, simulation, and analysis.
* Specify materials and manufacturing processes for tooling components, considering factors like wear resistance, heat treatment, and cost.
* Oversee the procurement, fabrication, and validation of new tooling, working closely with external suppliers and internal manufacturing teams.
* Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues during production, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance, reduce cycle times, and minimize maintenance costs.
* Develop and maintain documentation for tooling designs, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
* Stay abreast of new tooling technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to drive innovation within the company.
Job Qualifications**
* Bachelor's/Associates degree in Engineering and/or RJG MM Certifications preferred
* 3+ years of experience in tooling design and development, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX) for complex tool design.
* Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including injection molding, metal stamping, and assembly.
* Knowledge of different tooling materials, heat treatment processes, and surface finishes.
* Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles and practices.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Or equivalent combination of education, or certifications and journeyman experience
