Our Combat Mission Systems business is currently looking for a Tool Design Specialist II that is dedicated to enhancing manufacturing processes through the development of tooling and rising to the challenge to deliver products that help protect the lives of those who serve. As a Tool Design Specialist II, you will: + Work under the guidance of Senior Tool Design Specialists to enhance knowledge and skills in designing effective tooling and fixtures. + Produce 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawing packages from specified instructions using standard design procedures for the development of new components, assemblies, systems, or subsystems. + Conceptualize and design a variety of tooling and fixtures for use in a production environment, including weld templates, drill jigs, assembly fixtures, holding fixtures, lifting devices and checking fixtures. + Review tool drawings for accuracy and producibility. + Work closely with manufacturing engineers, product design, and quality engineers to identify and mitigate production risks. + Provide support to tool room machinists and welders throughout fixture fabrication processes. + Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) testing on lifting device and work stand designs and will assist with fixture load testing. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** Required Education: + High school diploma or equivalent Required Experience: + Minimum experience of 1 year in an engineering design role with a Bachelor s degree. + Minimum experience of 2 years in an engineering design role with an Associate s degree. + Minimum experience of 2-3 years in an engineering design role with a high school diploma. Required Skills: + Candidate must be detail-oriented and proficient in modeling and drafting using Pro Engineer/Creo (preferred), or Autodesk Inventor. Applicants with SolidWorks or NX experience may be considered. + Ability to design safe structural/mechanical assemblies and quickly develop solutions to mitigate complex production challenges under the guidance of a Senior Tool Design Specialist. + Must have basic knowledge base in various engineering and manufacturing disciplinesspecifically related to tooling, welding and machining. + A general understanding and application of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T). + Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels. + Ability, confidence and self-motivation to apply talents independently and with good judgment. + Efficient with Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. + Demonstrate effective time management and ability to work within budgetary expectations. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Associate s or Bachelor s degree in an engineering-related discipline. + Experience designing tooling and fixtures. + Fabrication experience (machining and welding). + Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $72150 - $122655 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
