Shermco Industries is looking for a Tool Room Supervisor

Position Summary

The Tool Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily tool room operations, including the management, maintenance, and distribution of tools, equipment, and materials required for production and field service work. This role ensures tools are properly inventoried, calibrated, and available to support operations while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the tool room, including tool issuance, returns, and storage
• Maintain accurate inventory levels of tools, equipment, and consumables; conduct routine audits
• Implement and manage tool tracking systems to ensure accountability and minimize loss
• Coordinate tool maintenance, repair, and calibration schedules to ensure equipment readiness
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Train and mentor tool room staff on procedures, safety practices, and inventory management systems
• Collaborate with operations, field teams, and project managers to forecast tool needs and availability
• Manage procurement of tools and materials, including vendor relationships and purchase requests
• Track tool usage, analyze trends, and provide reporting to improve efficiency and cost control
• Oversee proper storage, organization, and cleanliness of the tool room
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tool management and workflow efficiency
• Address discrepancies, damages, or losses and implement corrective actions
• Pickup and delivery of equipment and supplies to job sites
• Potential for overnight stays depending on job site location
• Overnight travel expectations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education preferred
• 5+ years of experience in tool management, warehouse operations, or related field
• 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials relevant to electrical, mechanical, or industrial environments
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and tracking software
• Understanding of tool calibration and maintenance processes
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred:

• Experience in electrical testing, field service, or industrial contracting environments
• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain

Pay Range

USD $30.00 - USD $32.00 /Hr.
