From the moment you're hired, to the day you retire, you're a part of our Bassett Mechanical Team. \n \nPosition Purpose\n \nTo supervise, coordinate and support the Tool Room activities for Bassett Mechanical in a strategic, cost-effective and timely manner that is aligned with the goals of Metal Fabrication, Construction, and Service divisions within a Lean and continuous improvement driven culture. \n \nPosition Responsibilities\n\n Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, internal customers, and co-workers.\n Responsible for the management of tools, safety equipment, rentals, commodities, and inventories maintained in the Tool Room.\n Administer and monitor preventative, corrective, and inspection maintenance for tool room equipment, maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements and warranty items.\n Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day resolution of tool request needs.\n Manage ongoing tool and equipment purchases and obtain quotations for capital tool requests.\n Responsible for maintaining accurate tool lists and equipment in databases.\n Responsible for tool tracking and accurate charge outs to jobs.\n Maintain accurate inventory levels of tools and consumables.\n Leverage manufacturer and vendor rebates, credits and other programs.\n Participates in the Tool Room annual budget process and manages costs within budget guidelines.\n Optimize systems and reports to best serve customers.\n Partner with Safety Department for overseeing all safety equipment housed within the tool room ensuring that any required inspections are completed and documented.\n Responsible for training, developing, and managing performance of direct reports; providing prompt and objective coaching and coordinating, planning, and assigning work to staff.\n Create, and maintain SOP's and work instructions for the key Tool Room functions.\n Support and maintain a safe and Lean work environment.\n All other duties as assigned.\n \nSummary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities\n\n Relevant work experience preferred.\n Availability beyond the normal business work schedules and ability to respond 24/7/365 \n Experience in giving direction to skilled, semi-skilled, and non-skilled trade personnel in an union and/or non-union environment\n Self-motivated, strong personal accountability, and even-tempered.\n Proven experience in successfully managing and executing multiple projects, contracts, negotiations and maintaining internal/external business relationships\n Ability to thrive in a Lean and continuous improvement driven environment\n Good computer skills using Microsoft suite and Viewpoint \n Ability to write reports and business communication\n \nDirect Reports\n\n Tool Room Attendants \n Construction Tool Room Coordinator\n* Co-op/Youth Apprenticeship Students \n\n
