Job Summary:

The Tool and Die Technician is responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, and molds used in manufacturing processes. This role ensures the production of high-quality components by providing efficient and accurate tooling solutions, adhering to safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, construct, and modify tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering specifications.
  • Maintain and repair existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics on tooling issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to develop new tooling solutions.
  • Perform precision measurements and inspections to ensure tools meet quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tooling designs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting process enhancements and cost-saving measures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Tool and Die Technician or similar role in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and other design tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in tool and die making preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and potential hazards.
  • May require standing for extended periods and occasional overtime to meet production deadlines.
