We are looking for a Toll Equipment Technician I to perform basic field maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and support for roadside toll collection equipment. This position will be a full-time contract role and onsite.
What You'll Do
Perform basic field maintenance and support for roadside toll collection equipment under the direction of Toll Maintenance Supervisors
Respond to incidents assigned through the Incident Management System (Jira) or as directed by supervisors
Conduct routine inspections of toll lane equipment, including gates, gate arms, ticket machines, payment machines, and associated components
Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment, visual inspections, and basic adjustments following standard operating procedures
Complete assigned work tickets in Jira, documenting maintenance activities, parts used, and work performed
Restart and reboot toll equipment, including Automatic Ticket Issuing Machines (ATIMs), Automatic Payment Machines (ATPMs), lane controllers, and related peripherals
Provide cleaning services for toll equipment by removing debris, cleaning sensors and readers, and maintaining equipment housings
Assist with equipment installations under the supervision of senior technicians or Toll Maintenance Supervisors
Escalate complex technical issues, networking problems, and significant equipment malfunctions to supervisors
Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and work areas in a safe, organized, and clean condition
Provide roadside emergency assistance within the scope of training
Perform other duties as assigned by Toll Maintenance Supervisors
What You'll Need
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to follow established maintenance procedures and job aids
Experience using computer-based systems for work order tracking and documentation
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to toll plaza locations as needed
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and tools as required
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
Experience supporting tolling, transportation, or roadway equipment
Familiarity with incident management or ticketing systems such as Jira
Basic knowledge of electrical or electromechanical systems
Experience performing preventative maintenance activities
Prior experience in field service, maintenance, or technical support environments
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and environmental conditions
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, tools, and materials as required
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical maintenance activities
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, computers, and mobile devices
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to various toll facility locations as needed

$24.70 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
