Our client is seeking a Title Examiner to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role focuses on researching property records, establishing chain of title, reviewing legal documents, and preparing title commitments and reports. The ideal candidate will have prior title examination experience and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:50 PM (flexible start times available)
Compensation: $25-$30/hr, with flexibility based on experience
Qualifications
• 3+ years of title examination experience
• Experience researching property records and establishing chain of title
• Familiarity with Resware, Qualia, SoftPro, RamQuest, or similar title software
• Strong understanding of deeds, mortgages, liens, easements, judgments, tax records, and legal descriptions
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience examining Michigan properties, multi-state title work, or complex title issues is a plus.
Responsibilities
• Research and examine property records to establish chain of title
• Review deeds, mortgages, easements, judgments, liens, tax records, and other legal documents
• Prepare title commitments, title reports, and related documentation
• Identify title defects and assist with resolution efforts
• Update title work through closing and review post-closing documentation
• Review commitments and closing documents following transaction completion
• Respond to title-related inquiries from internal teams, attorneys, lenders, and other stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the examination process
• Support title clearance activities, policy preparation, corrections, and related title functions
• Assist with continuation work, reissue transactions, and other title examination activities as needed
