DATE: April 22, 2026 POSITION: TIMS Clerk (12 months) SALARY: District Salary Schedule - (Grade 57 - $2,785.12 monthly - Starting Salary) DEADLINE DATE FOR RECEIVING APPLICATIONS: May 5, 2026 WORK LOCATION: Transportation Department GENERAL DUTIES: Assist the TIMS Coordinator with a variety of computer applications, which house student records, bus stops, route information, school attendance lines, and a wide variety of student and transportation information. Must assist in keeping maintaining a variety of applications/ programs based on the state and local student information/ transportation laws and guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school and five years of computer related experience in an automated office or systems environment or graduation from technical school with computer operations coursework with two years of experience in an automated office or systems environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must obtain and maintain TIMS Certification from ITRE in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Must have a valid driver's license. Knowledge of computer operations and programs. Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions. Ability to prepare clear and concise instructions and convey them orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates the computerized Transportation Information Management System (TIMS). Attends training sessions at ITRE Personnel in Raleigh and/or Charlotte for updated technology training and continuing education of all TIMS software. Enters and updates all transportation information and quarterly loads student data directly from PowerSchool; researches and corrects student data inconsi Produces TD-29 reports containing passenger lists and driving instructions for each of the systems school buses, and other maps and reports for distribution to schools and dri Maintains all the databases within the TIMS software and performs system maintenance to keep files in sync and updated. Enters data related to stop locations, bus runs, and bus routes. Must be able to manage and maintain correct and continually updates TIMS data to allow for tracing information related to the transportation of students to and from school. Must have effective communication with bus drivers, school staff, parents, directors, PowerSchool operators, central office administrators, public, and other Attends planning meetings as needed. Determines effective bus transportation system models by manipulating stops, routes, and schedules. Researches and answers questions related to bus routing and stop locations. Makes site visits when necessary to view bus stop locations, turnarounds, clarify addresses, etc. Visits schools to verify accuracy of reported data (bus loads, bus numbers, etc.) Troubleshoots and corrects minor hardware and software related issues and reports unresolved problems to proper ITRE staff for timely corrections. Coordinates transportation for summer school and other special programs. Responsible for maintaining county street network; works with county GIS planning to constantly edit and update new street listings, addressing, sub-divisions, parcel information according to ITRE specifications. Identifies and enters data for one-way streets, speed limits, railroad tracks and crossings, streets with medians, state maintained roads, and no travel streets for the most effective and safe travel for our systems school buses. Responsible for drawing and maintaining correct school attendance lines. Provides information to all public sources as well as all schools and central office staff to accurately reflect the school system pupil assignment. Provides maps to all schools, administration, and public agencies as needed. Gathers and enters data related to attendance boundaries, walk zones, and special information for each school. Randomly audits driver time sheets for compliance and accuracy.
