Serve with Purpose:
Trade Corporate Retail for Ministry Impact.

Are you an experienced retail leader looking to trade high-stress corporate sales targets and late-night closing shifts for a role with true purpose?

At Exodus Family Ministries, we believe retail can be a powerful force for good.

As our Thrift Store Manager, you won't just manage a store; you will serve the Lord, empower our local Louisville community, and directly advance the mission mission every single day.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Purpose & Mission-Driven Culture: Work in a supportive, Christ-centered, and collaborative environment where your daily efforts directly fund vital community ministry programs.

  • Generous Health Benefits: Enjoy full-time employment paired with a $500 monthly health insurance stipend.

  • Family-Friendly Work Hours: Say goodbye to 10 PM retail closing shifts!
Our schedule runs 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

  • Autonomy, Leadership & Creativity: As the Thrift Store Manager, you’ll enjoy: operational ownership, leading a dedicated volunteer team, setting visual standards, and spearheading new online retail channels.

What You’ll Do

As the Thrift Store Manager, you hold complete operational oversight of the Exodus Lost & Found Thrift Store, supported by a supportive network of ministry volunteers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Store Operations & Cash Handling: Manage daily open/close procedures (4 retail days/week), operate POS systems (Clover), execute register reconciliation, and prepare bank deposits.

  • Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage 2–3 volunteers per shift (10 AM–2 PM / 2 PM–6 PM), delegating responsibilities across cash processing, customer service, and donation sorting.

  • Inventory & Merchandising: Process incoming donations, create attractive floor displays, and manage our color-tagged pricing system to rotate and clear aging inventory.

  • Guest Voucher Administration: Process guest applications for the EFM Clothing Voucher Program, balancing compassionate ministry care with clear, assertive boundary enforcement to protect program integrity.

  • Digital & E-Commerce Expansion: Use store downtime to proactively launch and manage online retail listings (Facebook Marketplace, Shopify, EFM website) and engage the community through social media.

  • Donation Logistics: Oversee and assist with the transit of donated items between our nearby church donation hub and the thrift store.

What We’re Looking For

Spiritual Alignment:

  • A committed Christian who agrees with EFM’s Statement of Faith and demonstrates Christ-like character, integrity, and warmth in speech and action.

Experience & Skills:

  • 3+ years of retail supervisory or store management experience (experience directing non-profit or volunteer teams is a huge plus!).

  • Assertive Empathy: Outstanding customer service skills with the emotional wisdom to engage diverse store demographics—showing genuine compassion to guests while holding firm, professional boundaries on store policies and voucher applications.

  • Proactive Initiative: A self-starter who naturally takes ownership during downtime to build online sales channels and streamline operations.

  • Tech & POS Proficiency: Comfortable using modern POS systems (Clover, Square, Shopify), basic spreadsheet tools, and social media platforms.

  • Logistics & Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 35 lbs (boxes, totes, racks) and hold a valid Driver's License to manage donation transit between locations. High school diploma or GED required.

Schedule & Location Details

  • Store Location: 3925 7th Street, Louisville, KY 40216 (Southland Terrace / Dixie Highway area).

If you are ready to combine your retail skills with your heart for serving God and the Louisville community, we would love to connect with you.
