Qualifications You'll Need

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma with completion of Preschool Credential or CDA within two years; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
  • Experience: At least one year in an early childhood education setting preferred; experience with high-risk, low-income, multicultural families who have experienced trauma a plus
  • Specialized Knowledge: Trauma-informed practices; Pyramid Model for Social and Emotional Competence preferred or willingness to learn; anti-bias education
  • Professional Competencies: Strong communication and classroom leadership; organizational skills; flexibility and patience; ability to work independently
  • Language: Bilingual in Hmong and/or Spanish preferred
  • Additional Requirements: Caregiver Background Check and physical examination including TB test required prior to employment

What You'll Do

As a Therapeutic Classroom Leader, you'll support children ages 3-5 in Reach Dane's therapeutic Head Start program by:

Classroom Leadership & Environment

  • Creating a safe, nurturing environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Planning and implementing trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Following Head Start Performance Standards, childcare licensing requirements, and NAEYC accreditation criteria
  • Providing supervision and performance feedback for reporting staff

Therapeutic Team Collaboration

  • Collaborating with the Therapeutic Education Leader, Child and Family Resilience Specialist, and mental health team to align caregiving strategies across home and school
  • Supporting children's social-emotional development using the Pyramid Model framework
  • Completing required recordkeeping, lesson plans, screenings, and documentation on a timely basis

Family & Community Partnership

  • Building supportive, strengths-based relationships with enrolled families using trauma-informed practices
  • Conducting home visits, parent conferences, and family partnership processes throughout the year
  • Supporting family socialization events and parent engagement opportunities
