Job Description
The Dispatcher Coordinator provides leadership to the agencys dispatch staff. Supervises dispatch functions such as training, quality assurance/quality improvement, compliance, data interpretation and strategic planning. Works in coordination with the Statewide Dispatch Deputy Chief, Field Ops personnel and other agency departments to provide high quality services. Works with various programs to provide support services. Serve as a representative to Southern Area Coordination Center for the agency.
Responsibilities:
Working Conditions: May require working long hours with minimal rest and in primitive conditions, exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as smoke, wind, sunlight, rain and temperature extremes. May result in exposure to emotionally stressful situations. Persons serving in fire operation positions must meet a physical standard with includes successfully completing the appropriate annual work capacity test. May require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling. May require lifting and carrying heavy objects. May require driving motor vehicles for long distances. May require operating computers with monitors for extended periods of time. May require extended communication with visitors and employees in person, electronically or by phone. May require infrequent travel in agency vehicles with overnight stays.
This is a security-sensitive position. The individual in this position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations. The individual is required to handle PHI in accordance with A&M System's policy and is further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after the individual's employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.

Education and Experience:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Fire Administration, Business Administration or related field.
Preferred Education: Master's degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Emergency Management, Fire Administration or related field.
Required Experience: Four (4) years of experience with a fire or emergency response agency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Required Skills: Strong interpersonal skills. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Abilities: Sound judgement. Great attention to detail. Ability to lead others. Ability to work long hours in time of need. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Required: Class C drivers license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of date of hire. NIMS: 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800
Preferred: NWCG Qualification of Expanded Dispatch Supervisory Dispatcher (EDSP), Initial Attack Dispatcher (IADP) and Aircraft Dispatcher (ACDP).
