Responsibilities
DESCRIPTION:The Testing Specialist III provides testing services to students of Seminole State College. Services include entry and exit test administration; scoring and data management of assessment instruments inclusive of the security of test, answer sheets, testing materials and student responses; and placement analysis for new students. This position requires some weekend work, evenings, and the ability to travel between campus and testing locations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Administers entry and exit exams for college credit, AHS, GED, ESOL and Career Technical and programs following ACA APA test administration and standardization procedures.2. Accurately assists the Assessment Center with routine testing functions such as test administration, scoring and data entry into appropriate data bases3. Completes cross training in the following areas: career programs, career credit entry level testing, professional testing, make-up testing, test at outreach campuses, ESOL, ABE/GED and AHS.5. Administers testing services for the Professional Testing and Certification Center.6. Works as Test Administrator or Proctor tests and assures security in the administration and maintenance of exams.7. Physically transports testing material(s) up to 12 lbs. without any assistance from one location to another. 8. Continuously circulate in testing lab(s) to assist students taking tests.9. Enforces all test publisher procedures and requirements in the delivery of all Professional Testing Center functions.10. Remains up-to-date with training and in-service for all test publisher testing requirements.11. Allocates time according to the department's workload and is responsible for double checking when not serving students. 12. Completes assigned Assessment and Testing Center projects within a reasonable timeframe.13. Refers students to appropriate person or unit, screens telephone calls to provide information or refer as appropriate and provides counter service in reception areas.14. Provides up-to-date directory information to students on programs and services.16. Performs other site and position specific responsibilities as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Psychology or a related field.2. Experience working in a testing environment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Psychology or a related field.2. Bilingual background. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:1. Working knowledge of testing center computer applications, such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Word, and testing software.2. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 3. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.4. Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.5. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor while serving a high volume of customers.6. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced multi-priority environment.7. Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity.8. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:1. Requires the ability to work two (2) evenings a week and at least one (1) Saturday a month.2. Must obtain certifications needed to administer appropriate test(s) within three months of employment.3. Works inside an office environment and Administers and proctors exams in testing lab and/or classrooms.4. May provide examinations in assigned outreach facilities, e.g., Juvenile Detention Center, mental health facilities, John Polk Correctional Facility and drug rehabilitation centers.
