Position Summary

The Testing Center Specialist provides advanced administrative and technical support for testing services at Southeast Technical College with a strong focus on student access, equity, and success. This role exercises independent judgment in administering secure, compliant, and student-centered testing processes while serving as a knowledgeable resource for students navigating testing requirements, accommodations, and assessment technologies. The position supports Testing Center operations through functional guidance to staff, effective use of testing systems, problem resolution, and continuous improvement. Essential Functions

  • Administer institutional and external testing services in a manner that prioritizes a supportive, equitable, and student-centered testing experience while maintaining testing integrity and security
  • Apply independent judgment to resolve testing issues, student concerns, accommodation needs, and irregularities in accordance with policy and testing agency requirements
  • Serve as a primary point of support for students, providing clear guidance on testing processes, expectations, and available resources
  • Ensure accurate and respectful implementation of testing accommodations, including ADA-compliant processes and assistive technologies
  • Provide functional guidance, training, and day-to-day direction to part-time testing staff to promote consistent, student-focused service delivery
  • Manage testing technologies, platforms, records, and confidential assessment data with a high degree of accuracy and discretion
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and external testing agencies to support student access to required assessments
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing procedures, workflows, and student experience; recommend and implement approved process enhancements
  • Maintain required certifications and remain current on testing standards, student accessibility requirements, and partner agency policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's degree or higher

  • Experience:

  • Minimum two years of experience in testing services, student services, assessment administration, or a comparable administrative or technical role.

  • Experience supporting diverse student populations and working within secure, technology-based assessment environments preferred

  • Other requirements:

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in applying policies while balancing compliance and student needs

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on clarity, empathy, and professionalism

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, learning management systems, and computerized testing platforms

  • Ability to guide and support staff without formal supervisory authority

  • Commitment to student success, accessibility, confidentiality, and inclusive service delivery

Physical Demands and Work Environment

General office environment with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Moderate noise levels typical of an office environment due to staff and student conversations and noise from office equipment. Additional equipment associated with ancillary instruction may be available and may have effect on lighting, sound, and temperature. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions when traveling to other locations.
