Responsibilities:

  • Needs to have experience with automotive CAN.
  • In-depth knowledge of CAN bus architecture and protocols
  • Understanding of message arbitration, bit timing, and error handling.
  • Proficiency with CAN analysis tools: Hands-on experience using CANalyzer, CANoe, and PREEvision for network simulation, diagnostics, and validation.
  • CAN traffic calculation and optimization: Ability to calculate bus load, latency, and bandwidth utilization for complex networks.
  • Vehicle-level testing and validation: Skilled in performing on-vehicle CAN network tests to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Network troubleshooting and debugging: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to CAN message conflicts, signal integrity, and timing.
  • Understanding of automotive communication standards: Familiarity with ISO 11898, AUTOSAR, and related protocols.
  • Scripting and automation: Experience with CAPL scripting or similar for automating Canoe/CANalyzer tasks.
  • Data analysis and interpretation: Ability to analyze log files, interpret CAN traces, and extract meaningful insights.
  • Electrical and ECU fundamentals: Basic knowledge of ECU architecture, wiring diagrams, and signal routing.
  • Documentation and reporting: Competence in creating clear test reports, network configuration documentation, and issue tracking.
Requirements:
  • 6 years of related experience may be substituted for required degree.
  • Test Engineer with over 5 years of test engineering experience in required test and confirmation per area of specialty.
  • Applies engineering principles, experiences and various analysis tools to develop test plans/procedures to test design parts/components in area of specialty to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards.
  • Creates data settings, test specifications/standards and test schedule, prepares/setups test equipment, conducts moderately complex tests and documents/summarizes test results/conclusions, verifying testing accuracy/thoroughness and determining if additional testing is needed.
  • Analyzes/interprets test results, predicting performance/failure and providing required product/design data, identifying issues/developing countermeasures, communicating test results clearly in written reports/formal presentations and proposing design changes and recommending countermeasures based on analysis of testing results.
Education:
  • BS Degree in ME/EE
