Position Summary:

  • The Accessory Development Division (ADD) develops automotive accessories and specialty mobility products that enhance the customer ownership experience.
  • The Contractor Test Engineer I supports accessory development through product validation, test execution, data analysis, and reporting.
  • This role works closely with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure products meet performance, quality, durability, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Performance Requirements
  • Support development of product performance requirements.
  • Define test methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Benchmark competitive products and emerging technologies.
  • Correlate requirements with design, supplier, and validation activities.
  • Verify performance targets through testing and analysis.

Test Development & Execution
  • Plan, set up, execute, and document laboratory and vehicle testing.
  • Conduct prototype, DV, PV, and countermeasure testing.
  • Install accessories, instrumentation, and test equipment on vehicles.
  • Operate test equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensure test accuracy, repeatability, and data integrity.

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect and analyze test data using established tools and methods.
  • Evaluate results against specifications and requirements.
  • Identify performance issues and support root cause investigations.
  • Prepare test reports, technical summaries, and presentations.
  • Maintain test plans, schedules, and validation documentation.

Cross-Functional Support
  • Coordinate testing activities with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Support supplier validation and test plan correlation.
  • Assist with vehicle build events, product investigations, and evaluations.
  • Participate in technical reviews and project meetings.

Requirements:
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automotive systems.
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, or laboratory testing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Experience managing schedules and project deliverables.
  • CATIA V5/V6 experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle modification, accessory installation, or prototype evaluation is a plus.
