The college offers Associate in Technical Arts Degree in Welding Technology and short term certificates at both the Bremerton campus and in Shelton. Olympic College's main campus is located in Bremerton, Washington, on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula. A ferry ride from downtown Seattle, the area is surrounded by 236 miles of salt water shoreline, located between the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges, in the Puget Sound Region. This position will work primarily at the Bremerton campus in Bremerton, Washington.

A public comprehensive community college, Olympic College educates more than 13,000 students a year. Founded in 1946, the college has campuses in Bremerton, Poulsbo and Shelton- it serves a population of 280,000 residents living in Kitsap and Mason Counties.

Essential Functions Examples of Responsibilities

Prepare and teach welding courses in shop-based, lecture and online delivery formats, creating engaging teaching and learning environments that facilitate student success.

Provide student education and career advising, mentoring and support.

Actively contribute to the welding faculty team meetings and activities to collaboratively complete a variety of discipline work.

Participate in continually updating existing curriculum and creating new programs and courses to meet changing workforce demands.

Plan, develop and set up classrooms, instructional shops and online teaching environments.

Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities.

Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement.

Stay current in the welding field through a variety of professional development activities.

Develop and nurture connections with local employers.

Maintain regular office hours for students and colleagues.

Serve on appropriate college and community committees, including working with the welding program advisory committee.

Oversee Bremerton shop equipment maintenance and supply purchases.

Work with the Dean to schedule and oversee adjunct faculty teaching in the Welding Technology Program.

Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Welding or related field

Teaching experience

Welding industry experience of at least 5 years in all major welding and cutting processes and a history of Welder Certification in most common metal groups.

Current Certified Welding Inspector or Associate Inspector

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

Terms of Employment

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.

The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus to respond to workplace reporting requirements at the time of hiring. Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
